Developed as a part of the Carr Center’s global initiative, Boomerang places visual artists from Detroit into an international dialogue and multi-generational conversation with a musician in Chelyabinsk, Russia, and middle school youth.
In a unique call and response, selected works from this physical exhibition were shared with Vladimir Khomyakov in Chelyabinsk who composed and improvised musical selections for a live concert. These same images were also shared with students at the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences who composed poems in response to what they saw and felt.
